It’s been all hands on deck at the new Emerson’s brewery due to open in Dunedin next month, so it was welcome news when the team learnt its 1812 Pale Ale had won a gold medal at the recent Australian International Brewing Awards (AIBA).
Competing in the American Style (Best International Pale Ale) category, the judges noted that the Emerson’s beer had: “Good intensity hop aroma with good integration on the palate. Crisp with balanced bitter finish.”
Richard Emerson, Founder of Emerson’s, says: “This gold medal is testament to our remarkable brewing team, they have always paid incredible attention to quality, consistency and flavour. We are very proud of our 1812 Pale Ale, and it’s fantastic to see it getting international recognition.”
Emerson’s also picked up a silver medal for its Pilsner in the Other International Style Lager (Best International Lager) category, and a bronze medal for its London Porter in the Robust Porter (Best Porter) category.
The Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) is the largest annual competition of its kind in the world judging both draught and packaged beer, receiving a record number of entries this year, with more than 1,700 from 350 draught and craft brewers across Australia and internationally.
