East Imperial Gin will be celebrating all things gin with their fifth annual East Imperial Gin Jubilee, happening in Auckland for the first time from 27 February – 4 March.
Bringing together some of the world’s finest gins and the region’s best bars and bartenders, the Jubilee aims to bring people together across a range of different venues to explore gin culture and sample creative variations of the classic Gin & Tonic.
Co-founder of East Imperial Tony Burt says: “We have seen such great support from the community and it shows that there is a strong and growing interest in cocktail culture and Gin and Tonics here in the region. We are delighted to be bringing the festivities to Auckland this year, and look forward to celebrating and spreading the love for all things Gin and Tonic.”
The festival will include a citywide “Best Gin & Tonic” competition for 33 local bars, a series of master classes and cocktail competitions around town and the chance to explore the history of gin and tonics (and learn how to make the perfect one).
With a wide range of gins participating, including international brands Hendrick’s, Sipsmith and Monkey 47, plus boutique brands Rogue Society, Dancing Sands, and Thomas Dakin – there will be unique flavour profiles and new drinking experiences for everyone to enjoy.
The Gin Lane closing street party will showcase a series of pop up bars and gin brands at Gypsy Caravan on March 4. The “Best Gin & Tonic” and “Best Ginstagram” winner will also be announced here. The Gin Lane party is free for all to attend, and guests can take the opportunity to try out some of the competing bars’ gin and tonic creations for $10 per drink.
