Super Liquor has announced the winners of The Drammys 2020 New Zealand Whisky Awards.
The Balvenie Portwood 21YO was named this year’s ‘Best In Show’ in a unanimous decision from the judges, beating out more than 160 entries.
Finished in 30-year-old port casks to enhance and develop its taste without losing its original characteristics, The Balvenie Portwood is a creamy, silky Scottish single malt.
The fruit, honey and spice notes, followed with a gentle nutty finish made this 21-year-old a stand-out entry, say organisers.
“After three years of sponsoring The Drammys, we have seen significant growth in the whisky category in New Zealand,” says Bryan Cherry, Marketing and Merchandising Manager for Super Liquor Holdings.
“We are excited to see the market grow further and this has been reflected by the increase of entries each year.
“We would like to thank everyone involved, especially our judges of brand ambassadors, whisky experts and distillers.
“We would also like to say a huge congratulations to the medal winners this year, it is an achievement and we are excited to continue to educate on fantastic whiskies in New Zealand.”
