The Managing Director of Lion NZ, Rory Glass, has announced he is leaving the liquor giant after a restructure that will create a more closely aligned trans-Tasman business.
Following 10 years leading the New Zealand operations, Glass will leave at the end of February and the new Trans-Tasman model will begin on February 1st.
Moving to an integrated global operating model, Lion NZ (owned by Japanese brewer Kirin) will no longer have a managing director in New Zealand, the role will change to that of a country director.
Craig Baldie, currently Lion NZ’s commercial director, will move into the country director position on February 1st, 2021.
Rory Glass told Brews News that the new structure would allow better use of resources and expertise across Lion’s global network, bringing “simplicity, consistency and best practice”.
“These changes have been made with a clear focus on delivering for our customers and consumers, growing our brands and embedding new skills across the business,” he said.
Glass was instrumental in helping to create the new model but said he was taking the opportunity to move in a new direction.
