It’s all about exquisite gin and vodka at The Langham Auckland this May, as the hotel has partnered with New Zealand-based distillers Ariki to create delicious gin and vodka-based cocktails in Palm Court.
Ariki, meaning royalty, produces ultra-premium gin and vodka using hand-picked ingredients sourced locally and from the islands of Polynesia. For example, wild Manuka flower is sourced from the Matakana region along with botanical ingredients including juniper, lemon peel and cardamom to enhance the base notes of Cook Islands vanilla and Tongan coconut in Ariki Gin.
“We wanted a product that New Zealanders and people of the Pacific could be proud of. Our association with New Zealand’s premiere hotel, The Langham Auckland, is a perfect fit and a testament to the high standards we aspire to,” says Ariki co-director Sean Rota.
To celebrate this partnership, executive chef Volker Marecek has created the perfect dish to showcase the natural flavours of Ariki Vodka. Succulent salmon cured in vodka, served with fermented tomato, vodka caviar and nasturtium leaf and a decadent Ariki Vodka cocktail to match will be available in Palm Court for diners to experience during the month of May for just $49.
Plus, every diner who orders this dish will also go in the draw to win a night’s luxurious accommodation in an Executive Suite with exclusive Club Lounge access for two as well as an Ariki gift pack.
Marecek says his specially created salmon dish is a celebration of all the wonderful pure ingredients found in Ariki.
“These are spirits unsurpassed in quality, and that’s exactly what I wanted to showcase here. This dish will take you on a journey, down the wild and free waters of the Tongariro plateau, past the wildest vegetation and leave you in a sunshine-filled field of gold.”
