Brancott Estate is supporting Emirates Team New with the launch of a limited edition series that introduces Kiwis to the language of nautical flags.
The three limited edition labels use international maritime signal flags to give New Zealanders a deeper understanding of the different roles needed to make the boat go faster and drive the team to victory in the 2021 America’s Cup – chase winds, drive speed, and forge power.
Emirates Team New Zealand member Glenn Ashby says the team is excited for Kiwis to gain a better understanding of the language of sailing, a language that comes second nature to them.
“Maritime flags have been used to communicate in the sailing community for hundreds of years and we’re excited about introducing New Zealanders to our language and bringing them a little closer into our world,” he says.
“Seeing the community show an appreciation and interest in what drives us through the language of sailing is not only humbling but gives us more motivation as we come closer to taking on the world at the 2021 America’s Cup.”
Each label is signed by three of the Emirates Team New Zealand team members, whose roles help the team achieve success in the depicted area, whether on the boat or behind the scenes.
Brancott Estate Chief Winemaker, Patrick Materman, says the creative team at Brancott looks to do things differently and embraces forward-thinking. “We see a strong link between ourselves and Emirates Team New Zealand. We are proud to be helping bring New Zealanders together in support of their journey to defend the America’s Cup title.”
The limited edition labels can be found on Brancott Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018 and Brancott Estate South Island Pinot Noir 2018 and are on sale now.
