Nelsons’ Capital Cider was announced the champion of Modern Ciders at the New Zealand Cider Awards ceremony held in Nelson Friday November 6th.
‘New World’ or Modern style ciders are described as clean, fresh and dry – much like New Zealand’s world famous wines. It is therefore no surprise that Chief Cidermaker Trudy Sheild is also an expert and highly acclaimed winemaker.
The winning cider, Capital Cider Tokyo Rose has bright crisp apple aromas and flavours, is dry to the taste and perfectly balanced.
Made from locally grown and sourced apples and fermented and packaged at the Cidery in Brightwater, this is a major step forward for the craft producer who have been making classy ciders since 2018.
