Herradura Double Barrel Reposado tequila, handcrafted by the finest tequila producers in the world, has now arrived in New Zealand for the first time. With only 230 bottles available, it’s sure to be a hit with tequila connoisseurs alike.
The result of over 140 years of tradition and dedication by Tequila Herradura, one of the oldest and most respected producers of tequila in the world, has resulted in the world’s finest tequilas from the heart of Mexico’s tequila region. The Casa Herradura distillery, one of Mexico’s most historic distilleries, is set on the premises of a 19th century Hacienda in Amatitan, Jalisco, where the entire production process right down to the bottling is completed in just one location.
The process of meticulously crafting Herradura Double Barrel Reposado tequila takes 12 months. During the first 11 months 100% pure agave tequila is rested in toasted oak barrels, creating a smooth and inviting tequila.
During the last month, the tequila is matured in a brand new toasted oak barrel. The second barrel aging adds unbelievable smoothness and complex flavour notes of cooked agave, dried fruits and sweet brown sauce to the tequila. The final stage includes vigorous testing and tasting, after which the tequila is approved and authenticated by the Master Distiller and then estate bottled.
Herradura offers a range of 100% natural blue agave tequilas, carefully crafted using time honoured and traditional methods such as cooking the agave in clay ovens and fermenting naturally with wild yeast.
It received acclaim for creating the first barrel-aged tequilas and its products regularly win top honours at the world’s most prestigious spirits competitions.
