Organisers of the craft beer festival GABS have announced the Auckland event has been postponed.
In a post on the GABS Facebook page, organisers say they are saddened to have to delay bringing the beer festival to Auckland, especially after the 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID-19.
“Unfortunately, our shipment of four containers to Auckland can no longer be guaranteed to arrive in time for the event,” says the statement.
“There are apparently delays of up to 4-5 weeks, which means we have no option but to postpone the GABS Auckland Festival planned for July 3rd as all our great festival beers and bars may be sitting out at sea!
“If that is not enough, in addition to this, the recent COVID outbreak in Victoria and subsequent travel ban on its residents to New Zealand further compounds our ability for some of our support team to travel to Auckland to deliver the best GABS experience possible.
“It is super frustrating as all we want to do is share a beer and a great day out with you!”
Organisers say they will be deferring the event and have paused ticket sales while they are exploring options to secure the next best available date.
All current tickets holders will have received an email last night regarding ticketing options.
“We’d love to continue the journey with you as we work towards a new solution for GABS Auckland 2021,” the statement concludes.
