Indevin Group, owner of Villa Maria, has confirmed it will be transitioning its New Zealand bottling operations from Māngere to third-party partner, WineWorks.
The move will see Indevin reducing its operations at the Māngere site over the coming months, including decommissioning the winery, warehouse, bottling line, office, and grounds.
Indevin acquired Villa Maria in 2021 and decided to move half of its bottling to the UK, impacting the bottling volumes at the large Māngere plant.
The official closedown date is set for November, with 35 jobs to be disestablished.
Indevin says it is working to find alternative employment within the industry for those affected.
