Kiwi bartender Lauren McKenna from Libre in Palmerston North has been named as one of the 15 finalists in the Hayman’s Global Cocktail Competition.
The challenge from the British gin brand and Difford’s Guide challenged bartenders from around the world to create cocktails using Hayman’s that home cocktail enthusiasts could make.
Cocktails needed to contain easily available ingredients and nothing that needed to be pre-combined.
McKenna impressed the judges with her “Peach Treaty” creation – a combination of the old Tom gin, peach schnapps, pisco, honey, lemon and dusted with matcha.
Her cocktail will now be prepared by a Hayman’s Ambassador for the live final at the Hayman’s Distillery on July 1st.
The winner will receive $2,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Hayman’s Distillery in London for three nights. Additionally, the two runners-up will each be awarded $1,000.
