Matakana’s Ascension Wine Estate is again up for sale after being largely closed to the public for a number of years.
The 19-acre (7.56 H) property with a Tuscan-style venue, vineyard, cellar door, and restaurant was founded by Daryl and Bridget Soljan in the mid-1990s and was a popular venue for functions and events.
However, according to Local Matters, it went into receivership in 2013 and was bought by brothers Gino and Kiro Gurshin and Alex and Mick Sipka, who reopened the estate in September 2014.
Alex Sipka later bought out the Gurshin brothers and in 2019, he attempted to lease the hospitality side of the business to a specialist operator.
The vineyard on the property was established in early 2000 and the winery features traditional winemaking technology, balanced with a sustainable ethos mix with fengshui design philosophy and principles.
The estate’s buildings total an area of approximately 2500 sqm and the price is currently up for negotiation. For more click here.
