Sacred Hill has launched two delicious new wines in its Orange Label range. The Sacred Hill Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016 and Sacred Hill Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016 are well balanced and textured wines, bursting with flavour. They are available now from selected wine stores, supermarkets and Sacred Hill Wine Company.
Both vintages were grown in Marlborough during a season that experienced an exceptionally clear skied and sunny Marlborough spring. While the Sacred Hill team could enjoy the mild weather during the day, they had to spend a bit of time fighting off the frost at night. Thankfully Mother Nature took charge with a warm and dry summer resulting in wines that have flavours right where the wine makers pitched them.
Marlborough winemaker Kel Dixon sees the fruity notes as his highlight in both wines. Dixon says, “The 2016 Pinot Gris has brilliant notes of apricot and lychee, and holds its richness right to the end. The Sauvignon Blanc is fleshy, with nectarine and fruit salad aromas and a faint hit of lingering citrus.”
The Sauvignon Blanc makes for a great aperitif or matched with fish and shellfish, while the Pinot Gris has hints of baking spices and would match perfectly with lightly spiced food of Asian influence.
The aromatic pair join the Orange Label range, made up of a selection of quality wines from specially selected vineyards in Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough, perfect for sharing with friends, family and food.
