The Steinlager Pure team has cause to celebrate with a few cold ones after taking out ‘Best in Class’ at the recent 2016 New World Beer & Cider Awards.
Rory Glass, Managing Director of Lion Beer, Spirits & Wine NZ, says: “We’re immensely proud of taking out such a hotly contested category alongside some great New Zealand and international beers. Our brewers consistently do an incredible job in brewing a premium New Zealand lager and this award is yet another validation of the great work they do. It would also be wrong not to congratulate the 12 other ‘Best in Class’ and Gold Medal winners, it just goes to show how healthy the New Zealand beer industry is when you see and taste such an impressive range of beer styles. It really is world class.”
The New World Beer & Cider Awards consisted of 458 different beers and ciders entered from 83 brewers across 13 categories. In total 40 Gold Medals were awarded, with 13 taking home the coveted “Best in Class” award.
A panel of 15 independent beer and cider experts judged each entry over two days through method of blind tasting. Each was assessed on its merits using a collaborative approach to evaluate qualities such as technical excellence, balance and, most-importantly, drinkability.
Steinlager Pure and other ‘Best in Class’ and Gold Medal winners will be available in New World stores nationwide from Monday 11th April.
