Brancott Estate Letter Series ‘B’ Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2013 was awarded the Trophy for Champion Sweet Wine at the Easter Show Wine Awards dinner on Saturday 14th March, held at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.
This is the second vintage for the Brancott Estate Letter Series ‘B’ Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, with its inaugural 2011 vintage winning five trophies at international competitions as well as a slew of Gold medals.
Easter Show Wine Awards is New Zealand’s oldest wine competition with a total of 1,222 wines being judged between 13-15 February by a team led by Kate Radburnd, Chair of Judges and Mike DeGaris, Deputy Chair.
On hearing of the trophy win, Brancott Estate Chief Winemaker Patrick Materman said: “We’ve spent a lot of time exploring the many different expressions of Sauvignon Blanc. With this wine we’ve aimed for the perfect dessert wine; rich and decadent while retaining varietal purity and a clean, fresh finish. It’s fantastic to see the versatility of Sauvignon Blanc being recognised with this award.”
Brancott Estate Letter Series ‘B’ Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2013 abounds with intense apricot, dried mango and honey aromas, while retaining the tropical fruit and herbal notes that are characteristic of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It pairs well with a wide range of desserts as well as a range of cheeses.
