The New Zealand School of Food & Wine has collaborated with the New Zealand Sommeliers and Wine Professionals to develop a National Blind Wine Tasting Competition.
The New Zealand Sommeliers and Wine Professionals will hold a series of regional competitions in June/July 2021 with the National finals to be held in Auckland on Sunday 1st August 2021.
How the competition works:
Teams of four enter the regional tastings and over three hours each team will taste eight wines and answer five questions on each wine.
Points are allocated for the correct answers with different weightings and time is limited.
The winning team from each regional competition will be awarded a $500 travel grant, sponsored by the Hospitality Training Trust, to travel to Auckland for the final on Sunday, 1 August 2021 to compete for the National Trophy at the New Zealand School of Food and Wine.
